A good education is the basis for success in your career. However, financing an
education can be an enormous financial burden. The aim of BAföG is to give every
young person the opportunity to complete a course of study or training
corresponding to his or her abilities, regardless of their social and
economic situation. A qualified education, including a programme of study at
an institute of higher education, should not be denied simply because the
potential student, his parents or partner do not have the financial means
necessary. In response to this, Germany has passed the Federal Education
and Training Assistance Act (BAföG).
